I have expended much of the last two weeks playing in the Grenadines, sailing amidst the dissimilar islands, and scuba diving as often as I can. Diving has become my new favored hobby. And the Grenadines provide pristine reefs and plentiful sea life to explore. So I have taken the plunge. I have dived Horseshoe Reef and Mayreau Gardens in the Tobago Cays, the Devil’s Table in Bequia, and the House Dive in Mustique. Unfortunately I am fixed by where I may go by my dinghy and the ripping ocean currents. But each time I descend into the crystal clear turquoise water- it is well worth it.

All goes silent as you descend to the ocean floor below, and the only noise is the bubbles from your regulator. And after you clear your ears, get oriented with the reef, and check in with your dive buddy- you take off exploring. It is just so peaceful and gorgeous underwater. I are oftentimes amazed at all the dissimilar corals, so bright and colorful. And I oftentimes find myself surrounded by thousands of fish. You never recognise what you might encounter in the Caribbean Sea; a nurse shark sleeping underneath a rock ledge, a swarm of pompanos that are just as curious when it comes to you as you are of them, or a sting ray buried in the sand. There is just so much to see!

Most of the dives are too deep to take the underwater camera along- bummer! But the one exception is the House Dive off Mustique. This shoal dive is not more than 30 feet deep and rather easy. However, just because this is an easy dive does not make it an uninteresting one. Quite the contrary! It was a extremely pleasing dive. Im enjoyably amazed with the coral and tropical fish there. I saw huge schools of grunts, triangular shaped trunk fish, timid squirrel fish, a gold spotted eel slithering along the rocks, and tons of groupers and parrot fish abound. One of my bestloved fishes that I have came upon there is a spotted drum, a black and white fish with long fin on the top that waves around like a feather- cool! I at long last purchased a Reef Fish Identification book so one of our bestloved après dive action is to look up all the fish I just observed. I’m unquestionably getting rather the diving fanciers and am lucky to be living in the Caribbean, where my back yard is the ocean blue.

My Favorite Travel Resource!

If you buy no other travel tips book-buy this one! It is jam-packed with information and resources every traveler should have! Having spent a year in Bosnia and back-packing across Europe through 10 countries I can honestly say I wish I would have had this wonderful resource then. Don’t leave home without it!

Written in an easy-to-read, conversational style, the author shares many practical ideas that can be put to use on your next trip. I especially enjoyed reading the suggestions on how to make the most of your frequent flyer miles.

This is a must-read book for anyone who is ready to pack their bags and travel across the country or around the world.

Good resource

This is a great source of basic travel information, especially for new travelers. The book’s layout walks you through pre-trip preparation to while you’re on the trip. It covers many topics that a traveler may not have thought of or forgotten; the web-site lists are helpful as well. The personal stories added a nice touch, especially since I love reading about others’ adventures.

For me, the sub-title was a little misleading (“Over 200 Money Saving Tips to See the World”). It made me expect a slightly different book, namely a list of money-saving tips. While there definitely are some money-saving tips in the book, it would have been more appropriate to just say “Over 200 Tips to See the World”, which is exactly what this book is.

In any case, I enjoyed reading the book and think it’s a great resource for any traveler.
